Institutional Description
True to its foundation as a community college of higher education, Nagasaki Junior College seeks to draw on and contribute to the vitality and academic achievements of its surrounding area. Program Description
The college contains four departments, Food, Childcare, English and Tourism, and Nursery Education. There is also a postgraduate program in Food. The mission of the college, in all fields of study, is to give students the opportunity to begin adult life well equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their chosen path. Through specially tailored programs integrating teaching, research and practical experience, students are able to pursue areas in which they hold particular interest and to take advantage of the unique opportunities offered in the locality, including, internships, home-stays and involvement in local festivities.

Special Features
The proximity of the American Naval Base, the Dutch village of `Huis Ten Bosch`, and various educational and welfare institutions, allows the curriculum to include a stimulating program of annual events. These include a week spent in an American home, hotel and tourism work placements in European style hotels and restaurants, teaching placements in schools and kindergartens, and various cultural exchange programs with American schools.
